Children’s Books

Fernando Reimers has authored or co-authored five children’s books that invite children and adults to explore empathy, friendship, diversity, global citizenship, and care for the natural world through shared reading and conversation.

The Adventures of Filomena is a series of four books inspired by Filomena, a blue parakeet who observes the world with curiosity. Across The Story of Filomena, Filomena’s Friends, Filomena’s Seasons, and Filomena’s Teachers, the stories encourage intergenerational conversations about perspective, cooperation, belonging, human connection, and the experiences of refugees. Each book includes questions designed to help readers reflect on the values and ways of thinking needed to live well in an inclusive world. The series is available in eleven languages and in paperback, digital, and audiobook formats.

Reimers also co-authored The Voices of the Trees with educator Elisa Guerra, with illustrations by Ana RoGu. Through six stories set in different cities and regions of the Americas, trees become narrators and teachers, helping young readers examine diversity, solidarity, empathy, vulnerability, hope, and responsibility for planetary sustainability. Intended primarily for children ages seven to twelve, the book includes resources for exploring global citizenship and social-emotional learning at school and at home. It is available in English, Spanish, and Portuguese.
